This first week of July has been so full! Basically, every weekend of June, I was performing in a parade or at a festival, enjoying the vendors. Then the first of July came barreling in as I prepared to march in our local Independence Day parade to announce that I was running in the November election for School Board. It has been an intense process as I lowered all the barriers and, for the first time, was truly willing to be seen.
In this process, I realized I got first-hand experience just in time for my telecall coming up tomorrow, Ask. Embody. Choose. I've talked about getting involved in politics for over 5 years, but this Summer has been the first time to choose it. The most expansive part of the choice has been the amount of receiving that came with it.
In make the choice to commit to the action, then walking in the parade, I was able to talk to the ex-mayor's wife and daughter who both gave me their promise for votes, I had parents asking for buttons/shirts to advertise my campaign, and older community members sharing their excitement that I was running.
So, as Helen Keller said, life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all. How many things are you asking for or talking about doing, but stop when it comes to the risks? Do you allow the excitement of your choice to expand on, or do you tap into the fear/risk and back away from the choice?
The secret to creating it all is to ask for what you want, tap into the energy, and embody it, and then choose. Too many people like to talk, but how many choose to take action and lead to something new?
So this week: - What are you asking for?
- What are you willing to embody?
- What can you choose?
