Be the Boss of Your Destiny! - What's Up Wednesday, April 30, 2025

Think of situations that take place in your life. What is your general response? What is funny is how hard it was for me not to ask you to look at something that's happened in your life, but this is precisely my point. We are taught cause and effect as a truth when we are younger, which leads us to believe that things happen to us, and then we react or defend ourselves against them. However, I don't think things happen in life, I truly believe we choose them. That's what it means to act and create.

If you function in your life from reacting and defending, you are taking a passive role where you get to sit back and watch things happen around you until something is personal enough for you to react or defend. Most of us would have an emotional reaction, but we often use our minds to defend ourselves in the form of reason and justification. When you live in this manner, you're always at the effect of the world around you, allowing you to have no power, no control, limited awareness, little to no choice in what direction you go next.

Whereas, functioning in life from action and creation, you are choosing to take an active role in the outcome in any situation. Where people tend to be stuck is understanding what an action is. It doesn't necessarily mean you fight or protest, though you could. An action can be as simple as acknowledging what your thoughts or feelings are in that moment, asking a question, or being a particular energy or space. It's not about what you're doing, it's about what you're choosing in that moment. It's the active choice to be present and choose whatever is required to move things in the direction that you'd like to create.

So, it could mean in one moment you're emotional and yelling at a horrible boss if what you'd like to create is a new job, or being fired. It could also be a moment where you wake up and choose not to check texts or emails first because you desire to create some space for yourself. Maybe you call someone you haven't talked to in a while because something inside you says that's what you need to do in that moment to create a new class, or money, or whatever. An action in life doesn't have to be logical. How many times have you stopped yourself from following your gut when you knew you did or didn't want to do something, but you chose the logical choice? Did it create what you desired? Maybe eventually it did.

What I know about most people, they will work their butts off to get what they want in life. The thing is, choosing to take action and create your life is simply easier. It's following the energy, trusting your instincts, and most importantly, valuing yourself. If you can have an intimate connection with yourself and acknowledge that you always get what you are asking for, maybe not in the time frame you want, then you can continuously create your future. The real question is, what would you like your future to be? Do you even know? If you do know, are you asking for it?

You can have everything in life you desire if you're willing to ask for it and then do or be whatever is required to get it. So, what are you going to choose now? To react and defend, or act and create? The choice is yours!
